This annual black tie event is the primary source of funds for the NAF's U.S. Fulbright Fellowship Program. True to the tradition of Swing, Jazz and authentic Big Band sound, the 16-piece Harlem Renaissance Orchestra performed under the leadership of Ron Allen, its director. The orchestra was created over twenty years ago with a mission to revive the music of the Big Band Era and to preserve this music in its living form by giving recognition to the great creators of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Pops Louie Armstrong, Benny Goodman, Lionel Hampton, and others. Mr. Philip Walkate, a professional stand-up comedian, presided over the flow of the evening as Master of Ceremonies. The evening ended with the informal and very popular post-Ball Folly Nightclub.
