The 29th Peter Stuyvesant Ball (2010)

Friday, November 19, 2010

The Netherland-America Foundation (NAF) is holding its 29th Peter Stuyvesant Ball on November 19, 2010 at the spectacular Pier Sixty located in the heart of Chelsea Piers on the Hudson in New York City.

The Sponsor of this year’s event is Heineken N.V., which for decades has supported the efforts of the NAF, in particular our commitment to education through the NAF-Fulbright Fellowships awarded to highly talented Dutch and American students pursuing graduate level studies at universities in each others’ countries. Jean-François van Boxmeer, Heineken’s Chairman and CEO, is serving as Ball Chair, with NAF Director Fred G. Peelen serving as Ball Organizing Committee Chair. The evening begins with cocktails at 7 pm, followed by dinner at 8 pm and the Peter Stuyvesant Nightclub at 11:30 pm.

The NAF Patrons, Her Royal Highness Princess Margriet of the Netherlands and Professor Pieter van Vollenhoven, have been invited to attend the Ball, as have the Ball Honorary Chairs, Ambassador Renée Jones-Bos, Ambassador Herman Schaper, Consul General Gajus Scheltema and Governor General Frits Goedgedrag. A highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the Peter Stuyvesant Award, a tradition started by the NAF in 1944 with Her Royal Highness Princess Juliana of the Netherlands as the first honoree. This prestigious award, only bestowed to 11 individuals in the past 66 years, is given in recognition for a lifetime of service advancing the cause of Dutch-American friendship.

The Peter Stuyvesant Ball is a treasured annual and very festive black tie event, where influential leaders and friends of the Dutch-American community from both sides of the pond gather in support of the NAF’s crucial and vital activities. It is our hope that you will join support the NAF by taking one or more tables or purchase individual tickets, making a contribution in lieu of attendance, placing an advertisement or sponsoring a NAF-Fulbright Fellowship.
